NTS DAR -Digital Audio Recorder is an audio recording device from any audio source like Telephone Line, 4-wire line, OFC, P&T line, Wireless Communication (HF/VHF/UHF), E&M Line of Railways, EPABX etc. It records and stores audio digitally thus making use of various advantages of digital techniques over its analog counterpart, like noise reduction, high fidelity, etc. This device implements the ITU standard G.723.1 to compress the recorded data thus requires less storage space. It can record data from 12 channels simultaneously. It can also playback stored audio according to channel, date and time while recording. These 12 channels may be of single type (e.g. all telephone lines) or from different sources (e.g., telephone, Wireless, 2W and 4W E & M, etc.).

This device is also available for less than 12 channels and, if required, can be further upgraded to accommodate more than 12 channels. It consists of a display unit, Alarm Speaker, Real-time clock, Input Device and large digital storage media. This equipment is designed as per as RDSO (Research Design and Standard Organisation, Indian Railways) Requirements. The various other important features of this device are given in next section.

1. A PC (Pentium based), actual requirement depends on number of channels, minimum hard disk capacity of 2GB, 32 MB RAM, at least one serial port, one parallel port and other standard accessories.

2. BHS Digital Audio Recorder Unit.

3. UPS for uninterrupted recording.

4. Speakers for Playback with amplifiers.
