Subscriber Benefits
Unified Messaging provides subscribers with the ability to
stay in touch with all their message providers, whether they
send information by means of voicemail, email or fax; the
subscriber can receive that information on any available terminal
anywhere, anytime.
Unified Messaging provides subscribers with the ability to
handle incoming information, from whatever source, in the
manner which is most convenient at any specific moment in
time - as a text message, as a voice message or as printed
output - and reply in any format. As far as the subscriber
is concerned, it frees the content of the message from the
constraints of the format in which it was sent.
Operator Benefits
For the operator, Unified Messaging represents a means of
becoming a total messaging provider for subscribers. Operators
can, for example, either set up their own email service for
subscribers or let them integrate existing providers into
the service; in either case, email messages can be accessed
by means of a telephone call from a fixed, mobile.
Unified Messaging helps the operator by:
*Increasing differentiation - Defining the operator as a provider
of advanced services.
*Increasing exposure - By permitting Web Services, Internet
users can send messages in different formats utilizing Unified
Messaging features to subscribers.
*Increasing usage - Users will dial in more often to check
the status of email as well as fax and voice messages.
*Increasing airtime - Longer calls utilizing text-to-speech
services to listen to email headers and messages.
*Reducing churn - Creation of a comprehensive Personal Address
Book (PAB) containing the subscriber's list of names, numbers
and aliases encourages subscriber loyalty to the operator.
